Can tartan be reinvented?

To be honest, not so long ago, if I saw a tartan skirt in a shop I would run a mile. This was due to the fact that for me tartan is usually associated with middle aged men in kilts. Recently however tartan has been reinvented thanks to many celebs and designers. So (you probably know what's coming next) here's how to wear tartan this autumn/winter.

Tartan is now a key element in grunge style. Be careful to keep your look laid back and it's a good idea to team your outfit with some doc martins or chunky gladiator sandals like these ones.

If you prefer safer styles then go for the 'tie something around your waist' trend. This works amazingly with tartan and is one of the main street styles of 2013.

Why not go for a more preppy look by adding cosy knits, loafers or a peter pan collar.

Or maybe you could find your inner cowgirl and go for a simple tartan shirt.

Beautiful Braids

It's the time of year when a lot of people are travelling to hot destinations for their holidays, which for me means that my hair gets frazzled and dry. There are loads of products that can help with this but I find that braiding my hair is a no fuss and quick way to sort out my dilemmas.
So here is my hair inspiration for this Summer...

Guest Post from Framecake

The guest post (interview style) from Sazzly Glimmer, owner of the amazing blog 'Framecake' has arrived! Enjoy...

Why did you start framecake?

I started framecake earlier this year because a friend of my mum's was asking if I liked fashion.. She said I should make a blog so, at 11 o'clock of that night framecake was born!! I'm now seriously addicted to blogging!

What is your favourite high street shop?

I wear lot's of Topshop but I really love Zara at the moment!! I think their tops are lovely this season!!
RHINESTONE EAR CUFFCUT-OUT FAUX LEATHER TOP

^^A quirky Zara ear cuff I treated myself to recently because I love to look crazy because that's exactly who I am!!

What is your favourite item of clothing?

My red jumper which my Nana bought for me! It's big, its red, its warm, its comfy and it goes with everything! (Either it goes with everything or I just wear it with everything- that's the same thing right???)

Who is your favourite designer?

Really love Mary Katrantzou at the moment but have had a passion for Vivienne Westwood for years... And Henry Holland.. I couldn't choose!!

What is your favourite Fashion Magazine?

Well, I love reading Style which I get every Sunday in the Sunday Times and have loved it for years! I am also developing a love for Company Magazine too!! Never been a real magazine person but I think I'm slowly being converted!

If you could have anyone's wardrobe for a day whose would it be?

I have a major love for Alexa Chung and her beautiful day-to-day style so I would say her! Can I look like her too??

Have you had any fashion disasters?

I think that some people would probably class most of my day to day looks as fashion disasters- all my crazy experimenting is just a learning curve. Quote me on that. Sounds very intelligent

If you had to live in one outfit for the rest of your life then what would it be?

It's not mine, but if I could I would live in this Oscar de la Renta dress that the beautiful Rihanna wore to the Brits way back in 2011!! I just totally fell in love with it!
And Vans, I'd wear Vans because I love them.:-)

Let's go back to the 1950's...

I for one am fascinated by the fashion of the fifties. I love the glamour and the soft feminine touch that it showcases. The beginning of the 50's were all about wholesome prints, polka dots and full skirts. So here is how to bring a fifties vibe to your modern wardrobe...

:
This sugary sweet dress is the statement piece for this outfit. It adds a flash of colour without being too 'in your face'. It is also a pretty reasonable price for £55 at Asos.

Image 1 of ASOS Cat Eye Sunglasses With Bug & Flower Detail

These BEAUTIFUL sunglasses are £20 and are also at Asos. I love the 'cat-eyed' shape and the intricate details at the side. However cat-eyed sunglasses don't suit everybody's face shape so you might have to adapt this outfit to suit you.

Ultimate white kitten heel

These kitten heels are £125 at Karen Millen. They are rather pricey but definitely worth it.

9ct gold cultured pearl 4mm stud earrings - Product number 6637132

These pretty pearls (£35 from Ernest Jones) complete this outfit perfectly. Pearls can also go with numerous outfits so you will be able to get a lot of look for your money.

If you want to go for the full package then add these ever so sophisticated gloves from Black.co.uk (£25).

Every girl loves shoes...

Look at these awesome shoes I found from Doll Boutique! They're really  eye catching and a veryyy nice colour! The laces and chunky heels give them a kind of biker/rock feel but the colour is very girly. They were originally £135 but they've been reduced to £95 (all the more reason to get them). Wear with denim shorts/skirt and a baggy jumper (click here) for a casual summer look or wear with a dress (click here) for a more dressed up look. Happy shopping ;)
